YOU SHOULD BE LISTENING TO CHROMEO

For music lovers, there comes a few times every-so-often that we are sitting in front of our iTunes library and as we search through our favorites, such as Meatloaf’s Bat Out of Hell or John Denver’s Greatest Hits, we sometimes become bored with our current music selection. Not to say that Bruce Springsteen’s Born To Run is a boring album, but our attention spans tell us that we want something new, something fresh.

That is where Chromeo comes in. Chromeo is a two-piece, electronica-1980s-meets-21st-century-style funk group based out of New York. The two masterminds behind Chromeo are P-Thugg and Dave 1, who describe themselves as “the only successful Arab/Jewish collaboration since the beginning of time”. (via Wikipedia)

Chromeo’s first album, She’s In Control, was a sophomoric debut that laid the groundwork for their 2007 synthesized masterpiece, Fancy Footwork. Fancy Footwork is an album that houses upbeat and danceable songs that you have probably heard in a bar or club and just didn’t know it. Each song has been re-mixed and then re-mixed again, but I am a huge fan of the original recordings. The album has it all: synthesizers, live instruments, rolling basslines, and perfectly executed vocoder.

If you are a fan of The Beastie Boys or any style of electronic/synthesized music, TSF guarantees you will form an obsession with Chromeo.
