NEW PEARL JAM SONG, “THE FIXER”
We’ll have to wait for Pearl Jam’s highly anticipated Backspacer to be released on September 20, but they’ve got a new single to curb our grunge appetite. At 2:56 in length, “The Fixer” is one of the shortest Pearl Jam songs I can remember. At first listen, it’s highly catchy – but at a cost. It doesn’t fit the classic Pearl Jam mold, and the song is a little too smooth around the edges, which may disappoint PJ purists. But they pulled it off and the song is highly listenable and great for radio. I hope every song on the record isn’t like this, but a few short and catchy tunes certainly won’t hurt.
